PURPOSE:To perform high-density recording excellently even at a tape running speed other than a standard speed and to perform excellent reproduction by recording an audio modulated signal on a track for a video signal, and then recording a luminance modulated signal and a chroma low-frequency signal on the same track one over another. CONSTITUTION:A couple of audio heads 24 and 25 which have an interval of 180 deg. and mutually different azimuth angles are disposed on a cylinder 19 at an angle alpha1 from standard-speed video heads 20 and 21 and at an angle alpha2 from low-speed video heads 22 and 23. Then, the angles alpha1 and alpha2 and steps Td1 and Td2 are specified as shown by inequalities I and II, where Tp1 and Tp2 are track pitches. Consequently, the audio modulated signal is recorded firstly and the video signal is then recorded thereupon excellently in both modes to record the audio modulated signal deeply in a tape magnetic layer; and the luminance modulated signal is recorded on the surface of the magnetic layer without erasure. |
