PURPOSE:To reset a tool promptly so as to improve work efficiency of a feed device, by constituting the feed device such that a feed rod having a rack engaged with a pinion is advanced in the axial direction against a return spring so as to feed the tool on the feed rod by turning operation of a handle. CONSTITUTION:A feed device 1 mounted by fitting a tapered inserting shaft part 2A to a tailstock 3 of a lathe is operated such that a handle 24 is pressed to be turned when the feed operation of a tool is performed by holding the tool in a chuck 8. Then the handle 24 is moved downward against a release spring 25, causing an upper side clutch 21 integrally formed with the handle 24 to engage with a bottom side clutch 20, thus a pinion shaft 16 is rotated by turning the handle 24. In this way, a feed rod 6 having a rack engaged with a pinion 15 on the pinion shaft 16 is advanced against a return spring 10, and the tool is advanced through an arbor 9, resulting in the drilling of a machined material to a depth corresponding to an operated amount of the handle 24. |
