PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for elimination of acetylenic compds. by selective hydrogenation, by depositing palladium on alumina and having prescribed specific surfaces, pares and pore distribution. CONSTITUTION:0.01-1wt% palladium is deposited on alumina. The specific surface area S and the total volume V of the pores having 37.5-75,000Angstrom radii are set to be respectively 120-350m<2>/g, 0.6-1.5ml/g and the pore distribution is made to have distinct peaks at the regions of 37.5-100Angstrom radii and 100- 1,000Angstrom radii. By this catalyst, acetylenic compds. containing in ethylene or propylene obtd. in the petrochemical industry or the like are selectively eliminated by hydrogenation. |
