The machine comprises a chassis supported by wheels which can be drawn by a tractor. A pick-up conveyor collects the beet in rows and delivers it to a first rotating grille, at least part of which is surrounded by a deflector. A second rotating grilles and second and third conveyors deliver the beet to a trailer moving parallel with the machine. - The two rotating grilles overlap each other and the second conveyor. The deflector of the first grille is partly movable between two positions to selectively open and close an aperture leading to the second grille.
