PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate for synthesizing a cholagogue, UDC, by the use of a bacterium, by cultivating a bacterium capable of producing 12-keto-3alpha,7alpha-dihydroxycholanic acid in a nutritive medium containing cholic acid. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium belonging to the genus Micrococcus, capable of producing 12-keto-3alpha,7alpha-dihydroxycholanic acid, is cultivated in a nutritive medium containing cholic acid, 12-keto-3alpha,7alpha-dihydroxycholanic acid is formed in the culture, and it is collected. In the separation of this mold from soil, for example, a small amount of soil is suspended in a liquid medium of meat juice containing 1wt% sodium cholate, subjected to accumulated culture, 1 platinum wire loop of the prepared culture solution is cultivated in a liquid medium of meat juice containing 1wt% sodium cholate, a 12-keto derivative in the culture solution is determined, and a strain having high conversion ability of the 12-keto derivative is obtained. |
