PURPOSE:To impart corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance and enable to obtain a molded article of a micron order, by a method wherein a corrosion- resistant and abrasion-resistant film of a metal, metallic oxide, metallic nitride or metallic carbide is provided on a molding surface. CONSTITUTION:A thin film of at least one selected from the group consisting of a metal, a metallic oxide, a metallic nitride and a metallic carbide resistant to corrosion and abrasion is provided on the molding surface of a metallic mold for a resin by a dry-type plating method. The material and the film thickness of the thin film provided on the surface of a cavity are appropriately selected in accordance with the resin to be molded and a required use life of the metallic mold used. For example, in the case of a film thickness of about several hundred angstroms, sputtering is adopted since a low-temperature treatment can be conducted,and in the case of producing a film of an easily vaporable material with a film thickness of the order of micron, ion plating is preferably adopted. |
