The channel-section frame 10 of a half-dropwindow for a vehicle has a stepped base providing a recess 11. The sliding pane B<SP>1</SP> of the window is provided at each side with a rack 3 for engagement with a pinion 21 carried by a shaft 20 which is mounted on the fixed pane C. The rack 3 slides in the recess 11 of the frame. The frame 10 is mounted in an opening 8 by means of rubber strips 6, 7.
