In an electrical resistance or heating grid having a current-free edge and, in the unobstructed space of the same, electrical current conductors which are arranged such that they run to and fro and whose sections lying side-by-side are held by means of insulating material elements, the problem exists of easy production of individual items or small batches for special applications without any special cost for equipping, for example, a Jacquard loom. In order to achieve the object of creating such a grid which can be individually designed and constructed without increased cost and which at the same time is quick and simple to produce, the electrical current conductor (16), which is provided with a restoring force by means of design measures, for example coiling, is held in a clamped manner such that it fills the surface by means of insulating material elements (clamping elements 18) which are arranged offset and connect in each case at least two current conductor points in an insulated manner.
