PURPOSE:To adjust the paper feed speed of a copying machine atuomatically by detecting and processing light transmitted through an original to be copied. CONSTITUTION:A light source 1 irradiates the original to be copied which is inserted into the insertion port of the copying machine, and photodetecting sensors 2a, 2b, and 2c detect the light transmitted through the original and convert the quantities of the transmitted light into electric signals. Amplifiers 3a, 3b, and 3c amplify the electric signals and A/D converters 4a, 4b, and 4c convert those electric analog signals into digital signals. A sensing circuit 5 detects whether there is original photosensitive paper in the copying machine or not. A microcomputer 6 receives the sensing result of the sensing circuit 5; when there is no original photosensitive paper in the copying machine, outputs of the A/D converters 4a, 4b, and 4c are read successively and compared to calculate the paper feed speed for the best copy result on the basis of data on the largest quantity of transmitted light and a calibration table of paper feed speeds and the quantities of transmitted light which are programmed in the microcomputer 6, thereby outputting the calculated speed. |
