PURPOSE:To minimize the supply amount of offset preventing oil by detecting the position of the recording paper on a carrying path and controlling the start and stop of revolutions of a heat roll and a pressure roll of a fixing device in accordance with the position of the recording paper. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 29 is set near a conveyor belt 27 to detect the presence or absence of the recording paper 9. While the supply of oil 21a is started to the surface of a heat roll 17 as soon as the revolution of the roll 17 is started. Then the supply of the oil is stopped when the revolution of the roll 17 is discontinued. In this case, the roll 17 revolves in response to the revolution of a pressure roll 18. Therefore the supply amount of offset preventing oil can be minimized by detecting the position of the paper 9 on a carring path and controlling the start and stop of both rolls 17 and 18 based on the detected position of the paper 9. |
