PURPOSE:To retain superior performance at high temps. and to prevent disinclination due to deterioration of this orienting film by forming the orientation processing film on a transparent insulating film formed on an insulating substrate made of a mixture of PbO2 and SiO2. CONSTITUTION:Each transparent electrode formed on each of the two glass substrates of a liquid crystal display device is coated with a soln. obtained by dissolving nitrocellulose as a thickner in an org. solvent soln. of, e.g. lead octanoate and vinyltris(2-methoxyethoxy)silane, and after drying it is calcined at 500 deg.C for 30min to form an transparent insulating film. An orientation processing film is formed on this insulating film this two substrates are pasted with an epoxy adhesive to obtain a liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal display device thus obtained is enhanced in heat resistance, nondeteriorated in the orienting film by standing at high temps. for a long time, and highly reliable. |
