A non-slip, durable and attractive covering, especially for a deck on a boat, can be produced from sheets of waterproof plywood comprising multiple layers 1-6 bonded together. A series of grooves 7 of a given width, depth and placing is milled in the sheets 10, the grooves 7 are pretreated with a degreasing agent, all grooves are filled with an elastic compound so that an excess of elastic compound settles over and around all grooves, and the compound is allowed to set, after which the sheet is sanded, first in both directions transversely to the grooves, and then in the longitudinal direction of the grooves. <IMAGE>
