To provide a process for pressing glass gobs in glass-processing machines to form hollow glass articles by means of one or more pressing tools, which process permits an incipient deviation from the desired behaviour of the pressing operation to be inferred from only a tendential behaviour of the incipient pressing operation until its completion, it is proposed according to the invention that a path/time measurement of the pressing tool from its initial position until its final position is made, the values determined during the entire pressing operation being constantly compared with a predetermined path/time curve and, in the case of a possible incipient deviation of the actual values from the setpoint values, said actual values being constantly corrected and returned to the setpoint values. The representation of the entire path covered by the pressing tool during the pressing operation is carried out by means of measurement transducers. An arithmetic logic unit is used as controller. All or some essentially determining parameters influencing the forming process are acquired and included in the control.
