PURPOSE:To obtain a composite member which can be forged, has various shapes and has desired strength and performance by forging a blank assembling different kinds of metals. CONSTITUTION:Circular cylindrical members 1A, 1B consisting of different metallic materials are bonded coaxially by friction welding or the like to each other, whereby a composite blank material is obtd. Such blank material is subjected to scalping to match the size and to eliminate the deviation in axial center, etc. The blank formed in such a way is forged by the cooperative action of a punch 2 and a die 3, and a roller half having a cylinder part 4 and a stem part 5 by backward extrusion is formed. A roll can be formed from such half by correcting the top end part of, for example, the cylinder part 4, joining two pieces of such roller halves face to face and subjecting the same to frictional press welding. The coupling of the members 1A, 1B is made thorough by the above-mentioned method. |
