Only two metal bands 1a, 1b are now provided, which are clamped between pulleys 3, 4 with a vertical axis and arranged quincunx- fashion, these bands carrying two facing rows of lugs 10 to which are attached two metal strips 11, 15a which clamp between them the upper edge of the metal strip 21 to be coated. The nozzle 16, which has remained vertical, sends its jet onto the vertical generatrices of this strip 21. In an alternative form the strip 21 to be machined can be immersed in a local heightening or swelling of an electrolyte bath in which the nozzle 16 is arranged, this nozzle being fed under reduced pressure. <IMAGE>
