PURPOSE:To release unbalance of pressing forces at four corners and side of face thus to improve the reinforcing strength by providing first metal band for fastening the outercircumferential section of face, and second metal band for fastening through a spacer to the outercircumferential side of substantially rectangular face. CONSTITUTION:First metal band 5 is fastened through adhesive base material to the outercircumferential section 4 of face section 1 of cathode ray tube while lugs 9 are welded to the portions corresponding to four corners of first metal band 5 and second metal band 6 is overlapped through a spacer 7 to the portions corresponding to the opposite long sides of first metal band 5. Both ends of a pair of second metal bands are secured through welding or adhesives to the portion corresponding to the long side of first metal band 5. Then second metal band 5 is thermally expanded to insert a specific spacer 7 into a gap produced between second metal band 6 and first metal band 5 and cooled to be shrinked. Since the central portion of side is pressed concentrically by second metal band 6, pressing force of side section will increase considerably when compared with the case employing only first metal band 5. |
