First the cover fabric (6) is laid into the upholstery mould (2) and then the foam forming the upholstery, and subsequently the seat shell or the seat frame (4) is laid on top and pressed into the mould. Said seat frame (4) is then engaged over from the side edge with folding over of the covering fabric edge and is held firmly in the mould, a covering fabric edge being left exposed. The press plunger is then removed from the seat shell and a cover cloth (7) is laid on top and is then, simultaneously and jointly with the cover fabric, fastened to the reverse side of the seat shell or the seat frame. <IMAGE>
