<p>IMPROVED ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT MINE ROADWAY SUPPORT STILT An adjustable height mine roadway support stilt intended to be used in conjunction with an I section rolled steel joist support leg, including a sheet of steel which has been bent several times along its complete length to form an open-ended tube of square or rectangular section, the internal dimensions of which are complementary to the external dimensions of the I section rolled steel joist support leg which is to be inserted therein, the two opposing edges of the formed steel sheet, which are vertical in use, do not meet but are a short distance apart; to the outer face of these opposing edges, are attached lengths of tube or channel sections in such a manner that they are opposite to one another across the gap between the opposing vertical edges such that bolts inserted through pairs of opposing tubes can be tensioned by means of bolts which will draw the two opposing vertical edges together thereby engaging and gripping the support leg and allowing it to be located at any desired height above the floor level, the tension provided by the inserted bolts and corresponding nuts determines the yield load required to control the support leg.</p> |
