The figure is made of egg shells partly in substitution for mother-of-pearl. A plate of metal or mother-of-pearl is cut in a designed pattern and adhered on to the base plate. Egg shells which have been boiled, cleansed in acid(or alkali), washed, dried and/or coloured are then mosaiced to make a pattern and polished with fine sandpaper.
