The weft-monitoring device on a shuttleless weaving machine comprises, at each of the two shed ends (7 and 8) of the weaving machine, a yarn clamp (1 and 2) temporarily retaining the weft yarn (6), of which at least one yarn clamp (2) is movable towards the fabric stop edge (15) in order to move the weft yarn (6) through the measuring zone (10) of the measuring cell (4) arranged between the respective yarn clamp (2) and the respective shed end (8), a pneumatic nozzle arrangement (5) which prevents a loose yarn (6) from penetrating into the measuring zone (10) being located in the plane of movement of the yarn (6).
<??>These measures now make it possible in the simplest way to obtain a yarn signal indicating the proper positioning of the inserted weft yarn or a fault signal when the broken weft yarn has been brought out of a plane of movement by the pneumatic nozzle arrangement before it passes through the measuring zone.
