In a utility vehicle, the free space present beneath the superstructure is shielded on both sides of the vehicle by a cover, which extends from the front wheels to the end of the vehicle, in the form of a roller blind or a film which can be displaced by means of a winding shaft arranged beneath the superstructure and on both sides and by means of rail sections running parallel to the vehicle floor into a position covering or opening the free space.
