A rotating mechanical seal, which is intended to separate three media between rotating and fixed parts and is provided, in particular, for sealing off the output shaft (2) of electric motors with an oil chamber (3) positioned ahead of them, comprises at least one slip ring (8), which is secured firmly and leaktightly on the rotating part (2), and two counter-rings (9, 10), which, on the one hand, rest leaktightly against the slip ring (8) and, on the other hand, are sealed off relative to in each case one housing passage (12, 13). In order to be able to install and remove such a rotating mechanical seal with as little as possible effort, the two counter-rings (9, 10) are surrounded by a common outer sleeve (11) and held on the latter. In this arrangement, the outer sleeve (11) bridges the gap between the two housing passages (12, 13) and is sealed off relative to the respective housing passage. The interspace between the outer sleeve (11) and the respective counter-ring (9, 10) is bridged using a seal element, preferably a rubber-bellows cover (40, 41). The slip ring (8) is mounted on a supporting sleeve (16). This gives a compact rotating mechanical seal as a self-contained assembly unit ready for installation and comprising relatively simple components. <IMAGE>
