PURPOSE:To miniaturize a vertical magnetic recording and reproducing head and, at the same time, to adopt an azimuth recording system to the head, by installing plural main magnetic poles into a single body head. CONSTITUTION:To the exciting coil 13 of an auxiliary magnetic pole 11 a recording current of an alternating signal which generates a magnetic flux as shown by the broken line in the diagram is made to flow. Moreover, another recording current which generates another magnetic flux as shown by the one- dot chain line is made to flow to the exciting coil 19 of a main magnetic pole 16. Also, the 3rd recording current which generates a magnetic flux of a direction opposite to the direction of the magnetic field generated by the auxiliary magnetic pole 11 shown by the broken line is made to flow to the exciting coil 20 of another main magnetic pole 17. When each magnetic pole is excited in the above-mentioned manner, magnetic fluxes generated by the main magnetic pole 16 and auxiliary magnetic pole 11 converge into another and form a magnetic half-closed circuit. On the other hand, the magnetic flux generated by the main magnetic pole 17 is cancelled by the flux generated by the auxiliary magnetic pole 11. |
