PURPOSE:To improve the working efficiency and to improve the yield of rolling in hot continuous rolling by controlling the speed of a steel strip to bring the succeeding end of a preceding rolled material and the preceding end of a succeeding rolled material into contact with each other during roughing and finishing and spacing the rolled materials during finishing. CONSTITUTION:Hot continuous rolling of a steel strip is accomplished by a roughing mill 1, a finishing mill 2 and a down coiler 3, wherein the roll revolving speeds in the final stand of the mill 1 and in the first stand of the mill 2 are regulated to make the speed (Vc)T at the front end of a succeeding rolled material (c) higher than the speed (Vb)B at the rear end of a preceding rolled material (b) under rolling. The speeds of the materials (b), (c) are thus controlled to maintain the difference therebetween preferably at <=50m/sec, and the materials are rolled while the rear end of the material (b) is brought into contact with the front end of the material (c) and is thus pressed by the same. The roll revolving speed in the final stand of the mill 2 and the coiling speed of the coiler 3 are controlled upon passage of the rear end of the material (a) through the mill 2, to make the speed (Va)B at the rear end of the material (a) higher than the speed (Vb)T at the front end of the material (b), by which both are spaced and are thus coiled. |
