The invention relates to a refuse collector with an inner container and a two-shelled folding cover whose cover parts are pivotable about a lower horizontal axis. When the two shells are opened, the entire open cross-section, or virtually the entire cross-section, of the inner container is to be exposed without structurally costly and additional opening means, and applying only slight force, the closing of the shells also taking place in a simple manner.
