PURPOSE:To make determination quick and simple without yielding environmental pollution, by applying a voltage to a water absorbing member, which is impregnated with H2O2 yielded by the enzyme reaction of a sample material, and determining H2O2 based on the value of a current generated by the electrode reaction of H2O2. CONSTITUTION:A water absorbing member 12, which is provided between both electrodes 11 and 13 of a determining element 10, is impregnated with a sample solution by way of a through hole 11a, which is provided in the upper electrode 11. The impregnated sample solution is reacted with enzyme, which is impregnated in the water absorbing member 12 beforehand, and H2O2 is yielded. Then a specified voltage is supplied across the electrodes 11 and 13 from a potentiostat 26. Then a current flows in H2O2 by electrode reaction. The current value is measured by an ammeter 28 and recorded in a recorder 29. Based on the current value after a specified time period from the voltage application, the organism component in the sample solution is determined. Since the electrode reaction is yielded without immersing the electrode in the sample solution, the cleaning of the electrodes is not required. Since only a minute amount of the sample is used, there is no problem of the disposal of the solution after the measurement, resulting in that no environmental pollution occurs. |
