PURPOSE:To find the parameter indicating the curvature of a body efficiently at a high speed without using a picture memory by detecting feature points and the intermediate point between the feature points on the contour of a two- dimensional picture of the body from the contour of the body, and performing arithmetic processing. CONSTITUTION:The body 12 conveyed by a belt conveyor 11 is irradiated by light sources 13 and 14 and an image of the body is detected, line by line, by line sensors 15 and 16; and the picture signal of the sensor 15 is inputted to a feature point detection part 17 to find feature points P such as terminal points on the contour of the picture signal showing the body 12 and the intermediate point M on the contour between adjacent feature points, and the projections and recesses of the body 12 are judged from the position relation among the feature points P. An area measuring and curvature calculation part 18 finds the area of the input picture from a line L running through the feature point P and the size of a line segment on the basis of the information on the position relation and the input picture signal from the sensor 16, so that the parameter indicating the curvature of the body 12 is found efficiently at a high speed. |
