A tank with several chambers lying side-by-side, instead of the known twin-chamber pressure tank, is proposed for the transport of pressurised liquids and gases, which chambers are again derived from the cylinder form and are subdivided by vertical bulkheads. This results in favourable bulkheading in the event of accidents, the possibility of better weight distribution for the transverse stability, and a cross-sectional shape of the tank which permits increases in volume over the cross-section of the ship without the draught of the ship increasing. Supporting of the pressure tanks is possible via longitudinal members, which support the tank as extensions of the longitudinal bulkheads.
