A friction false twister having two moved surfaces, between which the yarn is clamped for the purpose of imparting the twist, possesses a rotating disc made of flexible material which is pressed in the direction of the yarn by a press-down ram. In addition to this, a support for the disc is located in front of the ram. The ram and support can be designed as an installation part.
