PURPOSE:To prevent the density of an image from varying and to obtain the stable image density by varying the relative speed between an electrostatic latent image carrier and a developer carrier according to the amount of toner particles of the developer in a developing container provided with the developer carrier. CONSTITUTION:The developer detecting means 9 in a hopper 5 sends a detection signal corresponding to the amount of the developer in the developing container to a drive control means 10. A driving means 8 which rotates a sleeve 2 turns the sleeve 2 corresponding to said detection signal under a driving speed command from the means 10. Then, the means is so programmed that a sleeve rotating speed suitable for the amount of the developer is set previously. Further, the detected amount from the means 9 is compared with a reference value by a judging means such as a discrimination device, etc., and the sleeve speed is determined according to which is larger. When development corresponding to the speed is completed, the amount of the developer in the developing container is detected again so as to decide whether the sleeve speed is maintained or not for continuous development, and a proper sleeve speed is determined to perform the development. |
