<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a semiconductor laser device of high reliability not depended on ambient temperatures by a method wherein a device is composed of a semiconductor laser element, a P-N junction element used to detect the temperature, and a thermoelectric cooling element electrically connected to the P-N junction element. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor laser element is formed by stacking the semiconductor laser element 1, a sub mount 2 consisting of an Si crystal piece, and the thermoelectric cooling element 3. By such a constitution, the heat generated from the semiconductor laser element is detected by utilizing that a forward directional voltage VF of the P-N junction diode of the sub mount 2 varies with the variation of the ambient temperaure, the variation of the forward directional voltage VF is fed back to the thermoelectric cooling element, and thus cooling is so performed to a fixed temperature by the thermoelectric cooling element 3 that the semiconductor laser element always emits a prescribed photo output. Therefore, the semiconductor laser element itself is driven in a state of suitable temperature, and then the deterioration of the semiconductor laser element can be prevented.</p> |
