The invention relates to a device for interrogating a line grating (26), irradiated by a light transmitter (20, 21), by means of a light receiver (22, 23) consisting of two antiparallel-connected photodiodes, opaque stripes (27, 28) displaced by 180 DEG with respect to one another being applied to the surface of these photodiodes. The result is that a signal independent of the ageing of the light transmitter (20, 21) at the zero crossing is obtained at the output (24, 25) of the photodiodes. <IMAGE>
