A boat or ship drive which compared with conventional similar types of drive is distinguished by far higher efficiency. As apparent from the drawing, the characteristic of the type of construction ensures that large undesirable turbulence is avoided during rotation of the fan-type rotor but the thrust forces become fully effective in the axial direction. A banked-up flow on the inner arches 1a and 2a as well as a low pressure produced by a fast flow on the outer arches 1b and 2b give rise to the thrust forces. <IMAGE>
