PURPOSE:To move a cargo sidewards with a small force, by providing a fork device for conveying a roll of paper, a mandrel for a roll or the like to a winder or the like and for attaching and detaching the roll of paper or the like and by fitting the fork device with cargo carrying rollers equipped with brakes and extending in the direction of elongation and contraction of a fork. CONSTITUTION:The upper fork 3 of an expansible and contractible fork device 2 installed on a moving rest 1 is fitted with cargo carrying rollers 4 equipped with brakes and extending in the direction of the elongation and contraction of the fork. When a conveyed article such as a pallet 33 is put on the carrying rollers 4 and conveyed, the electromagnetic brakes are operated for the rollers to prevent their free rotation to stably carry the article. When sideward pressure perpendicular to the axial direction of the rollers 4 is applied to the pallet 33 in holding a cargo or conveyed article in the pallet by a grabber or the like, the rollers 4 can be let to freely rotate to easily move the pallet. |
