PURPOSE:To facilitate initiation of the reburning of a high pressure electric- discharge lamp, in which a stabilizer and a glow starter are installed near its base, by alleviating heat the glow starter receives by attaching the glow starter to a stabilizer case in such a manner that the glow starter is exposed. CONSTITUTION:An emission tube 1 which is charged with mercury and has a pair of electrodes 2a and 2b and a heating member 13a at its ends, is installed in an outer tube 13. A stabilizer case 23 to which a base 8 is attached is fixed to the upper portion of the outer tube 13. After a stabilizer 16 is installed in the case 23, a glow starter 22 having bimetal switches 27 and 28 is inserted in a base 25 provided on the side surface of the case 23 in such a manner that most part of the glow starter 22 is located outside the base 25 and that the glow starter 22 can be freely attached and detached, thereby constituting a high pressure mercury lamp substituted for an incandescent lamp. As a result, reburning of the lamp is easily initiated by alleviating heat the glow starter 22 receives from the emission tube 1. Besides, the glow starter 22 when it becomes deteriorated can be replaced easily. |
