The invention relates to a device for the remotely-controllable lifting of the valve rod of an overflow or safety valve, especially for such valves in systems which can be cleaned automatically and are used in the food and drinks industry. As a result of the invention, it is possible to arrange a remotely-controllable lifting device for the valve rod of the abovementioned valves in a space-saving manner in the spring housing or in its axial extension in such a manner that, in consequence, the opening and closing behaviour of the overflow or safety valve is not adversely affected or changed. These advantages are achieved, inter alia, by providing a pneumatically operable piston which is arranged and guided within the spring housing or a drive housing, by the piston, in its quiescent position, enclosing the valve rod in such a manner that the latter remains, by means of the said piston, free of force influence in every possible position, and by the piston lifting the valve rod out of its closed position in a positively-locking manner, after part of its stroke. <IMAGE>
