<p>PURPOSE:To prevent any escape of abnormal heat produced during the breakage of a sodium sulfur battery by providing it with a complex adiabator consisting of a heat insulator used for preventing heat radiation and an adiabator used for preventing heat escape. CONSTITUTION:A sodium sulfur battery is constituted by providing a complex adiabator between a unit-cell installation case 14 and a battery exterior case 11: the complex adiabator consists of a heat insulator 12 made of glass fiber or the like and used for preventing any outward radiation of heat, and an adiabator 13 made of calcium silicate or the like and used for preventing any escape of abnormal heat produced inside the heat insulator 12. In the complex adiabator, it is preferred that the thickness of the adiabator 13 and the heat insulator 12 respectively are adjusted to be 12-4% and 76-96% of the total thickness of the complex adiabator. Owing to the complex adiabator, any escape of abnormal heat produced during the breakage of the sodium sulfur battery can be prevented effectively.</p> |
