PURPOSE:To decrease a length in the direction of a pinion driving shaft so as to form a device in a small size, by effectively utilizing the dead space of an internal gear in a reduction gear for the arrangement of a pinion stopper and its moving space. CONSTITUTION:An external gear 12 of a reduction gear 9 and an internal gear 14 engaged with the external gear 12 are respectively provided in a rotor shaft 6 and a hollow output shaft 10, while a pinion driving shaft 20 is slidably and rotatably supported to be extended through in the hollow output shaft 10. If a sliding shaft 27 is moved forward through a shift lever 33 to cause a pinion 22 to be engaged with a ring gear 23, a starting motor 1 is started, and the rotor shaft 6 drives the pinion driving shaft 20 at a reduced speed through the external and the internal gears 12, 14 and the output shaft 10 of the reduction gear 9 and an overrunning clutch 25, then the pinion 22 is turned to rotate the ring gear 23 engaged with said pinion, thus an engine is started. |
