A filling pad provided for backfilling a mine support system or for filling hollow spaces is filled with a gelling liquid and has a fabric with pores of a defined size or pressure relief valves distributed over the surface. The gelling liquid gives the filling pad an advantageous yielding capacity at a uniformly high resistance so that the necessary frictional contact between support system and rock is ensured but on the other hand damage to the filling pad or even to the support system cannot occur. <IMAGE>
