The invention relates to a plastic pipe consisting of a basic pipe of, for example, polyethylene or polypropylene with a coating of a different polymer to reduce the oxygen permeability. In particular, in the case of a blend of PVDC and PU for the coating, with a coating thickness of 250 mu m, an oxygen barrier is already provided which is so effective that virtually 100% effectiveness is achieved. The coating is either applied to an existing pipe by extrusion or applied to the basic pipe by co-extrusion. The preferred blend ratio between PVDC and PU is in the range from 1:1 to 20:2. When this plastic pipe is used for floor heating, tight curves can be laid without detachment of the coating from the basic pipe occurring. The susceptibility to damage is also particularly low.
