PURPOSE:To perform cosine shape equalization without using any delay line, by installing magneto-resistance effect elements which output prescribed outputs at the opposite shape to a magneto-resistance effect element for main signal at the upstream side and downstream side in the running direction of a magnetic medium. CONSTITUTION:Three layers of magneto-resistance effect (MR) elements MR1- MR3 are installed in the running direction of a magnetic medium shown by the arrow (v) (running speed) at intervals l1 and l2. The MR2 is used for main signals and the MR1 and MR3 are used for waeform correction. An arrangement is made so that the output of the MR1 and MR3 attain Ki/2 times (0.2<=K<=0.8, i=1.2) of the output of the MR2. Mpreover, a bias current is made to flow to bias conductors 11 and 12 in the opposite direction so that the phase of the outputs of the MR1 and MR3 becomes the opposite of that of the MR2 output. When the three MR elements are connected in series, the whole output becomes f2(t)-[K1f2(t+r1)+K2f2(t-r2)]/2, (r1=l1/v, r2=l2/v) against the output f2(t) of the MR2 and cosine shape equalization can be performed without using any delay line. |
