The anchoring structure (46) comprises a support member (48) which is mounted on the side portion of a vehicle seat and which is formed with an elongated opening (80). A guide member (66) has a finger portion (68) which projects toward the inside of the support member (48) through the opening (80). The finger portion (68) is movable within the opening (80) and abuttingly engageable with the end walls of the opening (80) to limit the extent of swinging movement of the self-standing seat belt unit.
