An instrument for percutaneously extracting stones from the urinary tract or the bile ducts of a patient consists of a basket A which is open at the front and comprises a number of resilient arms 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17. The basket can be kept collapsed in a catheter when the latter is passed forward to the stone. When the basket is pushed out, it opens for the purpose of capturing the stone. The ends of the arms possess thread guides for a drawing thread 18, 19 which extends through the catheter and is passed through the thread guides in such a way that pulling on the thread results in the end of the basket being pursed together for the purpose of retaining the stone 30. <IMAGE> |
