PURPOSE:To obtain a titled bar which has good macro and micro structure, has no internal defect and surface crack, and has high out of roundness in outside diameter by subjecting a bar-like blank material of a Ti alloy to hot skew rolling at the limited reduction of area of rolling at the temp. in alpha and alpha+beta, beta regions. CONSTITUTION:A material 1 to be rolled such as a bar-like blank material of a Ti alloy is subjected repeatedly to a prescribed number of cycles of the stage for charging said material into a heating furnace 2, ejecting the same from the furnace after heating, rolling the material in a cross type screw rolling mill 3 using three rolls, then reheating the material in the furnace. The material from the mill 3 is cut after it is passed through a setting machine. Here the material is worked at the temp. in alpha, alpha+beta, beta regions respectively in at least finish rolling according to alpha, alpha+beta, beta types of the Ti alloy, and the reduction of area in each one pass is made <=40 for the former two and <=85% for the latter. Then the uniform working within the section is made possible and the intended Ti alloy bar is obtd. |
