PURPOSE:To prevent video information from bad influences and to maintain changeability with an existing system by controlling the level of a subcarrier in accordance with a recording program mode at the recording and by discriminating the subcarrier level at the reproducing to discriminate the program mode. CONSTITUTION:When MPX stereophonic mode information is recorded in a video disc, a switch 23 is controlled so as to select the output of a detector 21. A switching circuit 28 is controlled so that switches S1, S2 are on and other switches S2, S4 are off. The switching circuit 28 is automatically controlled by an output of a discriminator 40 discriminating the level of a subcarrier signal. Namely, the discrimination of the MPX stereophonic mode level controls the switching circuit 28. |
