The invention relates to an operating method for operating an air-circulation separator, in particular a cyclone separator, and a cyclone separator for screening cement, the air-circulation stream being divided up into a primary screening air stream and a secondary air stream. The primary screening air stream and the secondary air stream are introduced together into the upper part of the screening device where the primary screening air current is diverted and guided into the lower part of the screening device. The individual air currents can be controlled in terms of their direction of entry and speed.
