PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of a key input device of book-mat type by switching freely between a proper code system and a desired code system on the basis of the information of each system. CONSTITUTION:In a vertical-horizontal or horizontal-vertical switching state of system, both vertical and horizontal item numbers are designated by designation keys 12 and 13 for the code numbers and code arrays supplied from an input device 10. A CPU20 executes a system state setting routine 31 and fetches the information on a flag 14 of the device 10 to discriminate the code system proper to the device 10 is vertical or horizontal. Then the CPU20 carries out a vertical- horizontal switching routine 32 and performs a switch between horizontal and vertical code systems. |
