PURPOSE:To manufacture easily and with high efficiency a base material which is regular and also excellent in its density by making plural optical fiber strands pass through a through-hole of a die, giving a vibration, fixing the end part as one body, and forming an optical transmitting base material. CONSTITUTION:Plural through-holes 2 in the vertical direction are provided at constant intervals on a die 1. A guide pipe 5 which is necessary and has a sufficient length for erecting vertically and packing an optical fiber strand 4 is provided on the die 1. The strand 4 is packed into this pipe 5, giving a vibration by an exciter which is not shown in the figure, and is led to the througn-hole 2 of the die 1. In this case, a bottom plate is prepared on the bottom face of the die 1, and a strand group 6 is led downward in the lump by moving the bottom plate when the strand 4 is led to all the through-holes 2 of the die 1. The end part of this bundled-up strand group 6 is fixed by an adhesive 7, and the other end is also drawn out of the through-hole 2 of the die 1 and is fixed by the adhesive 7. Thus, an optical transmitting base material is obtained. |
