PURPOSE:To simplify mechanism and to remarkably shorten a measurement time by detecting the displacement quantity of a sensing roller, and looking up the correspondence relation between the displacement quantity and tension which is stored in a storage device and thus finding the tension of a measured body. CONSTITUTION:The sensing roller 21 is arranged between two guide rollers 22 and 23, the body 24 to be measured is run between them, and the sensing roller 21 is displaced according to the tension. the displacement quantity of this sensing roller 21 is detected by a detecting device 31. The correspondence relation between the displacement quantity of the sensing roller 21 and tension is stored previously in the storage device. The detected value of the detecting device 31 is inputted to the storage device to read corresponding tension data as the tension value of the measured body 24. Consequently, arithmetic processing is unnecessary, so the measurement time is shortened.
