PURPOSE:To attain a stereoscopic picture display less in fatigue by providing a means for controlling a distance to the virtual image of a display surface by an optical means based on distance information of a position of an observation point and a means for moving the display picture sideward in parallel in the display screen according to the distance. CONSTITUTION:When the image of an object 1 at a remote place such as a seabottom or a nuclear power installation is picked up by two sets of television cameras 2, 3, a video signal is displayed on two picture displays 4, 5, and the picture by a left camera 2 is observed by a left eye and the picture by a right camera 3 is observed by a right eye. The two picture display surfaces from the virtual image on a rear surface 8 of the actual display surface by lenses 6, 7. A horizontal dislocation of the picked up virtual image of the point on the surface 9 separated from the television cameras 2, 3 by the distance between the virtual image and the observer is made 0. Thereby, the direction of the line of vision of the observer observing a three dimensional picture is detected by an eye camera and an intersection point position of the lines of vision is obtained by calculating and the virtual image of the display device can be formed at the position, so that, the natural stereoscopic picture having less fatigue is performed. |
